What happened? Where am I? What’s going on?
He pushes through the bushes, eyes focused on the space in front of him. His heartbeat racing. Heartbeat? bumbum bumbum bumbum He has never heard that rhythm before. He has never felt it before. His lungs sting with its forced use, diaphragm in overdrive, greedily taking in the air around him.
What’s wrong? What is this?
He coughs, unfamiliar with the feeling. He still pushes forward. He glances up a the sky through the trees. They are still falling. He is still running forward until he makes it into the field. Infinite bright lights fall through the clouds.
Why are they falling? What did I do?
A single tear rolls down his face.
“Cas?”
It is faint but he hears it. He looks in the direction it is coming from, and on the other side of the field he sees two small orbs of light dancing close to the ground. One of them stops and it seems to look directly at him.
“Cas? Cas!”
He can see them now. Two figures running towards him holding flashlights. They look the same height, but soon he realizes, that this is because the taller one is falling behind, while the shorter speeds towards him. Cas doesn’t realize that the name slips from his lips.
“Dean.”
“Cas, Castiel!” Dean finally approaches him, and Cas is so grateful to see him, that when Dean grabs his shoulders Cas falls to the ground, bringing Dean with him.
“Oh God, Cas, are you okay?”
Finally Cas breaks down. He coughs out sobs and the tears fall. In his mind he does not know what is going on. This water is falling from his eyes. He is just so confused. He pulls Dean close to him.
“What have I done Dean?”
Dean hold him close and looks up at Sam, who stands over them, looking up at the sky.
Dean strokes the fallen angel’s head, “I don’t know Cas.”Castiel continues to cry into Dean’s chest, but soon he is able to calm down. Dean holds onto him as he pulls them back up, “But everything is going to be okay. I promise.” Dean grabs the sides of Cas’ face and looks into is blue eyes. Cas looks back, and Dean notices his breathing slowing.
“It will be okay. We can fix this,” Dean says again, and soon Cas nods. “Let’s get you back to the Batcave kay? We can clean you up, put some food in your belly okay? You can take my bed for the night. We can worry about this tomorrow.”
Cas looks down for a moment.
“Okay Dean. Just…” he pauses. Around them, angels continue to rain down. Dean sees that Cas is about to break down again. He looks at Dean, with tears threatening to fall, “…don’t leave me.”
